Air Jets and Volcanic Ash Dont Mix

From Denny: Check out this story about the effects of volcanic ash on jet engines. At least the airline industry has a healthy respect for Mother Nature when she's in a bad mood...

When you consider the corrosive effects of sulphur dioxide that's enough to convince me to keep the planes grounded! :)

If a jet engine can't breathe in order to function properly just think of what that volcanic ash does to our lungs. Great news clip with photos of caked on ash that melted as it hit the jet engines causing them to shut down while in flight. Two harrowing stories from the pilots and crew who lived to tell it.
